EVERYDAY
This Week From The Editor

What makes the ‘everyday’ matter? What would you consider a fertile necessity of life, one that wrests meaning from our mortality? For a majority of us, most days bleed into the nights, and the sequence plays over and over. Despite the mundanity of ‘everydayness,’ when you look back, ‘everything’ changes. So, the banal may not be as banal as you might perceive it to be.

Everyday Everydayness

Our existential credibility too, is coloured through creative pursuits that we partake in every day. Creativity isn’t just measured in finished projects or ideas brought to life—it is in the everyday decisions we make, as the quotidian. A tireless, timeless, everyday nourishment that milks out the extraordinary from the ordinary.

Our issue this week presents ‘everyday’ creative pursuits that rejoice and inquire: ‘Everyday India’ celebrates graphic designers who are ‘at it, every day,’ and how everyday design makes the country tick; Material Matters 2023 shares insights into the daily design decisions that could improve the future of design; The exhibition 'Human,' nuanced, reflective and sublime, but also gritty and diverse, is representative of the everyday human experience.

The impact of the ‘daily’ is absolute. There is enrichment in how and what we choose to perform everyday—questioning, beckoning, and improving—but only if you listen closely.
