PIVOT
This Week From The Editor

The centrality of our being emulates and incorporates several connotations: from spiritual beliefs of aligning chakras to physically aligning to one’s surroundings: all these manifestations, esoteric and natural, are rooted in a notion of certain fixed points—axes of joy, learning, and pressure, where the balance of growth and achievement lies. These are the pivots of our actuality.

Force, Impact, Motion, Balance

While it is easy to think of the pivot as just a catalytic part of a tool, its role remains crucial in creating motion, whether in objects or society. This centre always has a physicality, even though its reach and impact are allowed a sense of fluidity, contingency, and rawness.

This week’s issue pivots on the ideas and objects that encourage movement, both esoteric and exoteric, that can be felt in Yabu Pushelberg’s practice, as well as in the placemaking of ‘Protest Architecture’. The physicality and importance of the pivot are evident in the show ‘Perpetual Screw,’ and in the mesmerising movements of Mia Karlova Galerie's functional sculptures.

While our centrality concerning creativity is not just a matter of will but efforts, it assays the very meaning of what they can together result in. So, what do you hold riveted?
