The oldest timber structure in the world is the Hōryū-ji Temple complex in Nara, Japan, dating back to 600 AD. But timber is currently undergoing a renaissance as a primary structural building material due to its inherently sustainable attributes. We invite young Mumbaikars to apply their creativity and a little jugaad to build some timber structures of their own design, using basic materials such as wooden clothes pegs, popsicle sticks and elastic bands to create palaces, parliaments and pied-à-terres.
