Powering Passion

The world we inhabit is an ever-evolving work in progress—a rollercoaster of aspirations, wins, failures and dreams. Amid the chaos of existence, we seek a constant, something that keeps our hearts beating—passion. reD Architects has long been passionately captivated by the Preamble to the Indian Constitution and its core values. This installation was conceived as a tribute to those values in the Indian Preamble that form the foundation for our society and its priorities.

Powering Passion interactively connects the physical act of cycling with a word puzzle. As the pedal rotates, a light bulb is incrementally illuminated. After a certain number of rotations, a concealed word in the puzzle is revealed. Like all puzzles, once the word is seen, it remains in the mind. The illuminated words flicker and disappear, reminding viewers that these values require constant effort to remain alive and relevant. The fleeting nature of the words reflects the idea that only through sustained focus can we uphold the values that guide us. The installation is created in collaboration with the diverse expertise of the teams at Jaquar, a rapidly growing, multi-diversified ‘Complete Bathroom and Lighting Solutions’ brand with a presence in over 55 countries.
