Reality versus Rhetoric

With the potential for clear stewardship of an uncertain global future, the fashion industry has long stood at an inflection point that ridges between the perils of fast fashion and a nascent movement in sustainable fashion. However, while the discourse around fashion’s production and consumption is often shrouded in noise, how do we make sure that we tune in to the right channels? How do the tenets of sustainable fashion design transcend geographies while focusing on smallness and reduction? This talk explores the fundamental questions surrounding sustainability in fashion, and enquires how interventive measures from the fringes may mobilise more than the status quo in an industry in dire need of change.
