Book Launch & In-Conversation

Details

Join us for the worldwide launch of "Kolkata," the second volume in the Heirloom Cities series, a design-led publishing initiative that explores Indian cities through their food cultures and culinary traditions.

Heirloom Cities is an independent, design-led publishing house founded by Sri Bodanapu that creates carefully researched coffee-table books documenting the culinary identities of South Asia's most historically layered cities. The inaugural volume, "Mumbai," launched in May 2025 and won the prestigious Gourmand Awards, recognized as the "Oscars" of food-culture books.

"Kolkata," edited by Madhushree Basu Roy and Anindya Basu, expands this exploration of a rich and complex food culture, tracing how colonial history, migration, and local traditions have shaped one of India's most distinctive culinary identities. The book features contributions from renowned voices including Malini Banerjee, Amrita Das, Priyadarshini Chatterjee, Pinaki Bhattacharya, and Dolon Dutta Chowdhury.

This in-conversation event will bring together the editors, founder, and contributors to discuss the stories, research, and creative vision behind this visually stunning cultural publication. Perfect for food enthusiasts, design lovers, and anyone interested in exploring India's urban culinary heritage.
Date: Wednesday, 28th April, 2026 (6-8PM)
