Nova Rio Biennial of Art and Technology

September 20th - October 29th, at the Museu do Amanhã.

Details

The first edition of the NOVA RIO BIENNIAL OF ART AND TECHNOLOGY will take place starting on September 20th (Wednesday) and lasting until October 29th, at the Museu do Amanhã.

This event shifts the paradigm of exhibitions in the genre and becomes part of the cultural programming calendar of Rio de Janeiro. The proposal is to reconfigure the idea of the future in light of what creators from around the world exhibit and develop for screens, whether in the palm of one’s hand, on a mobile device, through a digital TV set, or on monumental walls filled with pixels.

The concept of the NOVA RIO BIENNIAL OF ART AND TECHNOLOGY is curated by Ricardo Barreto and Paula Perissinotto, globally recognized for their accomplishment in electronic art exhibitions and for founding the FILE - International Festival of Electronic Language, held for over 20 years.

The invitation to the public is to contemplate, interact, and reflect upon nearly 70 artworks from 30 countries. Among the 66 participating artists, collectives, and studios, 10 represent Brazil. A distinctive feature of this first edition is the exploration of two themes:
The New Aesthetics and Supercreativity in the era of Artificial Intelligence are showcased through both indoor and outdoor artworks.

Inside and outside the Museu do Amanhã, the audience will have unique experiences such as augmented reality, virtual reality, works involving artificial intelligence, interactive installations, machine learning, animations, game art, and videos.

Among the participating works, the game "The Great Adventure Of Material World" by Lu Yang stands out, with its exclusive release in Brazil.
The work "Capture" by Finnish artist Hanna Haaslahti offers an entirely new experience. Each visitor can have their own digital avatar launched in real-time into a projection, where they interact with a virtual crowd.
"Cycles of Creation" by Guli Silberstein presents an alternative proposal for the history of creation, where cybernetic beings design the world and natural life.
Gabriel Massan creates an entire virtual ecosystem based on the concept of "Critical Fabulation" by Saidiya Hartman.
Amy Karle's "Internal Collection" combines anatomy, fashion, and tech to create wearable art, conveying a message of self-discovery and human connection.
Ines Alpha, a French digital artist, challenges traditional beauty norms with her innovative 3D makeup creations.
"Petting Zoo" by Minimaforms offers a speculative robotic environment inhabited by artificial intelligent creatures. These creatures interact with participants, learning and exploring behaviors while fostering emotional exchanges.
