CP Kukreja Foundation for Design Excellence announces the inauguration of the exhibition, Reimagining Architectural Transformations in Post-Independent India, which will take place at the prestigious Nehru Centre in London on 30th September 2024.The exhibition showcases the evolution of India's architectural landscape over the past five decades, challenging conventional perceptions of Indian architecture through the lens of the renowned firm CP Kukreja Architects.
It highlights the transition from colonial architectural styles to innovative, independent designs that define modern India. The exhibition serves as a pivotal platform for the design and business communities to explore new avenues for engagement with India's rapidly evolving architectural scene. It aims to highlight India's architectural and cultural diversity, document the historical significance of iconic structures, promote innovation, emphasize sustainability, and foster global collaboration.
The exhibition will also chart the trajectory of India's architectural journey, from the modernist buildings of the 1970s and 80s to the innovative projects emerging from the post-liberalization era, and the cutting-edge sustainable designs of the present day. The goal is to challenge the Western perception of Indian architecture as being limited to forts and palaces by showcasing the diverse and continually evolving architectural landscape of India.
The inauguration event will feature an engaging dialogue between Dikshu C. Kukreja, Managing Principal, CP Kukreja Architects and Sumita Singha OBE on the topic “Empire to Expression - Transition from Colonial to Independent Architectural Styles.” This conversation will be moderated by Anmol Ahuja, Features Editor, STIR.
The exhibition will remain open to the public from 1st October to 4th October 2024, from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM (BST), inviting visitors to explore the rich architectural heritage and future-forward designs that have shaped modern India.
