Why unbuilt?
Indian architects report that a significant amount of the work in their offices remains unbuilt, these could be concepts that didn’t make the cut at competitions, or as proposals which got tied up in red tape, or as projects that were abandoned by stakeholders. These unrealised ideas are just as crucial as built structures – for discourse, design and development. This book seeks to celebrate these ideas.
STIR is proud to launch india: unbuilt architecture – a book that presents India's most celebrated architectural practices and their 50+ fascinating but unbuilt projects across diverse typologies. Accompanying them is a series of essays by professionals that discuss the idea of the ‘Unbuilt India’.
Participants: Sanjay Puri, Romi Khosla, Studio Lotus, Malik Architecture, Sanjay Mohe, ABRD, RLDK, and many more.
Programme:
1. Book launch
2. Storytelling session by presenters from diverse creative disciplines
The evening’s lineup of storytellers includes some of the most inspiring minds and creative changemakers across poetry, design, films, arts and literature. The spotlight will shine on each speaker for 15 minutes, engaging a carefully curated, by-invite audience of creative thinkers and makers into the Unbuilt narrative through stories, presentations, performances and screenings. After each presentation, the house will open up to an informal interaction with the gathering.
