Gallery FUMI presents By Which We Live, a group exhibition that brings together ten multidisciplinary women artists and designers whose practices consider the way objects, forms and atmospheres shape the way we live.
The starting point is a shared invitation to respond to the question: 'how do you live?' Working across functional objects and sculptural works, each maker approaches this question from a perspective unique to their practice. For some, living may be expressed through play, softness, intimacy or ritual. For others, it may emerge through tension, memory, protection or transformation. Together, this design showcase reflects the many ways our inner lives project into the spaces we inhabit.
By Which We Live becomes both a theme and an open question. It asks what it means to build an environment around oneself, and how art and design can influence not only how a space looks, but how it feels, functions and is experienced.
The exhibition features works by Saelia Aparicio, Stine Bidstrup, Bernadette Deddens, Corinna Dehn, Sarah van Gameren, Leora Honeyman, Charlotte Kingsnorth, Sofie Lachaert, Bregje Sliepenbeek, Emma Witter and Jie Wu.
