Spanish interior design studio Masquespacio unveils a 'mature and reflective design' for their latest hospitality design project: the new Egeo souvlaki restaurant in Madrid, Spain. Led by founders Ana Hernández and Christophe Penasse, the project marks the studio's second collaboration with the Greece-based brand Egeo, following the successful launch of their Valencia establishment. For the new 50 sqm Madrid restaurant, Masquespacio adopts an introspective concept that reflects Egeo's more than ten years of experience in the Greek gastronomy sector.

The restaurant design draws conceptual inspiration from the Greek myth of Pandora. After Prometheus stole fire and Zeus punished humanity, Pandora opened the mythical box that released all evils into the world—yet at its bottom remained hope. This narrative of difficulty, resilience and renewal informs the emotional foundation of the space.

"After the vibrant experience in Valencia, for Madrid we wanted to offer a more introspective vision of Egeo, recognising its trajectory," explains the Spanish designer Hernández, art director at Masquespacio, in an official release. "The myth of Pandora provided us with a rich narrative to explore the duality between difficulty and hope, translating into a space with a deeper and more reflective beauty."

A palette of soft beige tones establishes a calm, sophisticated atmosphere, accented by touches of electric blue that offer a contemporary design twist to Egeo's visual identity. "The materiality of the project plays a fundamental role in this narrative," notes Masquespacio.

One of the restaurant's most distinctive elements is a series of 3D-printed cladding columns. Their organic, stratified texture references the solidity and natural beauty of marble quarries, offering a dramatic reinterpretation of ancient Greece that creates an atmosphere that feels both historic and contemporary.

"The new Egeo space in Madrid promises to be a meeting point where authentic Greek gastronomy merges with an interior design that stimulates the senses, reflection and evokes a dramatic connection with history," concludes Masquespacio.
