The Fira Sideboard is built around a rhythmic repetition of wooden elements. By gradually offsetting these elements in a stepped formation, a distinctive structure emerges that gives the piece its character. In the Fira Sideboard, this principle is carried throughout the entire design, from the outer contours and legs to the construction of the drawers. The stepped structure is therefore not merely a visual detail, but forms the foundation of the design.
The sideboard is crafted from American walnut and features six doors finished with hand-laid walnut burl veneer. The veneer is composed like a patchwork, allowing the different grains and patterns of the wood to come together in a lively, continuous façade.
The drawers are also built in a stepped construction, following the same principle as the exterior of the piece. When opened, this distinctive construction becomes fully visible. What appears as a subtle rhythm on the outside reveals itself on the inside as complex woodworking and craftsmanship. The construction and joinery are deliberately left visible, becoming an integral part of the design. In this way, the same design principle continues consistently from exterior to interior.
When closed, the Fira Sideboard appears calm and almost monolithic. Once opened, a more complex and functional interior is revealed. The various drawers and compartments provide dedicated storage for bottles and glassware, allowing the piece to also function as a bar cabinet. Ceppo Beige stone and leather add a tactile layer to the interior, creating a subtle contrast with the warmth of the walnut.
