Carsten From Andersen was born in 1946 and completed his silversmith’s apprenticeship with Brdr. Hejl in Fredericia in 1969. He graduated from the University in Copenhagen with a BA in art history in 1981 and trained at the Institute of Precious Metals, Copenhagen in 1985–87. Since 1989 he has had his own workshop concurrently with extensive teaching and course activities for both amateurs and professionals. In 2005 Carsten From Andersen was chosen as silversmith of the year and awarded the Karl Gustav Hansen Prize at Koldinghus with the following motivation from then Director Poul Dedenroth-Schou: ‘Carsten From Andersen is a sublimely elegant representative of Danish silver design. Everything bears testimony to an excellent performer of silversmithing.’ In 2017 Carsten From Andersen won second prize in the HammerClub Award in Pforzheim, Germany.
