François Bauchet France

François Bauchet was born in 1948 in Montluçon (France). He studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Bourges. From 1978 to 1982, he was a lecturer at the École des Beaux-Arts in Mâcon. Since 1982, he has been a lecturer at the École des Beaux-Arts in Saint-Etienne. In 1983, his first project which was carried out with the support of the VIA entitled C’est aussi une chaise (It is also a chair), was presented at the Salon des Artistes Décorateurs (SAD). In 1987, he took part in the Documenta 8 in Kassel in Germany. From 1984 to 1998, he worked with the galerie Neotu.

François Bauchet combines scenography, interior architecture and design. His projects range widely fromthe design of the Fondation Cartier in Jouy-en-Josas, window displays and reception area furniture for the Centre d’art de Vassivière-en-Limousin, the reception area of the musée d’Art et d’Industrie in Saint-Etienne. He designed furniture of the café at the Jeu de Paume, as well as furniture for the park of the château d’Azay-le-Rideau.

In 2000, the musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris organised a solo exhibition of his work. Since 1999, he has been collaborating with the Galerie kreo for which he creates new pieces, including the Module collection in 2001, and the Hadar collection in 2003. In 2002, François Bauchet was designated Créateur de l’année at the Salon du meuble de Paris. His furniture and objects are currently produced by several editors as Cinna, Ercuis, GHM, Haviland, Ligne Roset, Thevenon…

In 2013, Galerie kreo organized a new solo exhibition for his 'Cellae' Collection, showing several pieces made of materials that have never been used before in furniture: technical felt and resin. His pieces belong to the permanent collections of the FNAC Paris, the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, the Lisbon Design Museum, and the Indianapolis Museum of Art.
