The France-based multidisciplinary collective Uchronia presents Flower Distortion, a new textile surface collection designed in collaboration with the Italian brand Radici. The collection explores the floral motif through abstraction, geometric forms and vibrant colour, translating elements of nature into a series of patterns inspired by optical illusions. “In Flower Distortion, the shape of the flower appears as an illusion, a vibration, a movement. The collection unfolds as an abstract landscape in constant transformation, where nature is not depicted but translated into a pattern of hypnotic motifs,” the project’s press release reads.
“With Flower Distortion, we explored the flower as a visual system in transformation. Rather than representing nature, we extracted its underlying logic: repetition, growth, vibration. Each motif acts as an illusion—a flower that appears, disappears, deforms or sets itself in motion,” says Julien Sebban, founder of Uchronia.
Comprising eight patterns in multiple colour variations, Flower Distortion features a colour palette of reds, oranges, purples and greens. The designs reflect Uchronia's contemporary approach to colour and pattern, using organic shapes and geometric compositions to create surfaces that appear to shift and transform. “In the collection designed for Radici, the stylised floral motif is distorted and inhabits space through geometry and visual suggestion: the result approaches the aesthetic of optical illusions, between graphic vortices and kaleidoscopic motifs,” the release reiterates.
The collection is produced on Radici's ‘Bloom Back’ textile flooring, which combines high-definition printing with a focus on material sustainability. The flooring is made using ECONYL® yarn, regenerated from industrial waste and discarded fishing nets.
“The collaboration between Radici and Uchronia will take centre stage in a dedicated photographic project, conceived to tell the visual universe of Flower Distortion through images, and presented at EquipHotel, the leading international event for the hospitality and contract sectors,” the multidisciplinary collective relays. Radici is previewing the Flower Distortion collection from November 2 – 5, 2026, at Paris Porte de Versailles (Booth P 7.1-H017).
