Three decades of design: Ron Arad, from 1992 to 2026 at the Opera Gallery, Monaco

UK-based industrial designer and artist Ron Arad is the focus of the retrospective exhibition, Ron Arad, from 1992 to 2026, at the Opera Gallery in Monaco, on view from April 27 – May 28, 2026. The design exhibition, coinciding with Monaco Art Week, will present more than 30 years of Arad’s work. “Renowned for his radical and experimental approach to design and materials, Arad continues to challenge the boundaries between art, architecture and industrial design. His work is characterised by fluid forms, an innovative use of metal and technology, and a playful yet rigorous engagement with structure, movement and materiality,” reads the official press release.

The solo exhibition will feature seminal works by the contemporary designer, such as This Mortal Coil (large) (1992), an elegant spiral bookshelf conceived as a continuous, flowing structure, and Linguine (2020), a stainless steel corweave piece that merges sculpture and furniture. Visitors will also encounter the versatile Good Ping Pong Dining Table (2023), iterations of the iconic Big Easy Armchair cast in crystalline resin and steel, as well as Rodin’s Thinker (2022), a minimalist reimagining of the classic sculpture as a functional seat.

“Ron Arad is one of the most visionary figures in contemporary design,” notes Federica Beretta, global director, Opera Gallery. “This exhibition offers a rare opportunity to experience the evolution of his practice over more than thirty years, bringing together major works that have shaped the language of collectible design while revealing the bold experimentation that continues to drive his work today.”

As part of Art Monte-Carlo, Arad will also participate in a conversation titled When Design Becomes Art — and Art Becomes Furniture on April 30, 2026, at the Grimaldi Forum, where he will discuss his creative philosophy with Beretta.
