Charles Burnand Gallery presents Under Wraps, the inaugural exhibition at its new Mayfair gallery at 20 Bruton Place, London, opening during London Design Festival this year, and on view from September 12, 2026 – January 9, 2027. “Under Wraps transforms the act of unveiling into part of the exhibition itself, with significant new works revealed through a choreographed sequence of automated unveilings. The opening marks a defining moment in a period of sustained international growth for the gallery, whose exhibition and fair programme has expanded significantly across the United States, the Middle East and Asia,” Charles Burnand Gallery notes in the official release.

The design exhibition brings together new and recent works by contemporary designers such as Niamh Barry, Peter Lane, Studio Furthermore, Kyeok Kim, Myungtaek Jung, Marc Fish and others, spanning sculpture, furniture, lighting as well as collectable design. Materials range from mirror-polished bronze and glazed ceramic stoneware to recycled aluminium and cast glass.

Among the show's highlights is a stoneware wall installation by Lane; an illuminated bronze sculpture by Barry; a new recycled-aluminium console by Studio Furthermore, finished with a dichroic coating; and a chandelier by Fish incorporating 22-carat rose gold leaf. “Some works mark entirely new bodies of work; others extend established practices through greater ambition of scale, material and technical refinement. Together, they mirror the gallery's own position at a threshold, moving from private development into public view,” the design gallery notes.

Designed by Richard Parr Architects, the new Mayfair space establishes an architectural language that will carry over to the gallery's next major project: a permanent, large-scale space in the Cotswolds, scheduled to open in 2027. “Both spaces are conceived as sculptural environments for sculptural work, built to present materially ambitious design at a scale and quality more commonly associated with contemporary art institutions.

“Under Wraps establishes the curatorial direction of the space and reimagines what an opening exhibition can be, transforming the beginning of a new chapter for the gallery, its artists and their collectors into the substance of the exhibition itself,” the gallery notes.
