Galleria Continua presents Comme un jeu d’enfant, travail in situ, 2014/2026, an immersive installation by French artist Daniel Buren, on view from May 31 – December 20, 2026, at its Les Moulins location. The installation transforms the language of childhood construction games into an expansive, immersive experience.
“Originally created at the Musée d’Art moderne et contemporain de Strasbourg in 2014 and later presented in Naples, Aguascalientes in Mexico, Sydney in Australia and Daegu in South Korea, Comme un jeu d’enfant unfolds at Les Moulins through the essential principles of Buren’s practice: work conceived in relation to a specific site, the dialogue between geometric forms and architecture, the presence of colour and a reflection on the visitor’s experience,” Galleria Continua explains in an official release.
Comme un jeu d’enfant occupies the gallery space with a landscape of wooden modules. Cubes, cylinders, arches, pyramids and parallelepipeds evoke the elementary forms of children’s building blocks, enlarged to human scale. “These forms no longer belong to the world of the toy, yet they do not fully enter the realm of architecture. They occupy a singular intermediate space in which sculpture becomes an environment to be experienced,” the art gallery explains.
The installation unfolds through assembly, with geometric elements creating passages, thresholds, alignments and unexpected viewpoints. Colour also plays an important role: one section is rendered entirely in white, drawing attention to its volumes, contours and spatial relationships, while another side is rendered in vivid colours, evoking the visual language of educational games.
“Visitors are invited to move freely through the installation. It is through movement that perspectives, alignments and visual relationships gradually emerge, revealing the work as a dynamic field of perception,” the contemporary art gallery notes.
