Gallery FUMI presents the third edition of the group show Casa al Mare in London

Gallery FUMI presents the third edition of Casa al Mare (House by the Sea), its annual summer exhibition inspired by the beauty and material richness of the Mediterranean, on view from June 25 – August 29, 2026, at the gallery's London space. “The exhibition returns this year with a curation drawn toward the spare beauty of the Aeolian Islands: volcanic stone, hues lightened by the sun, the particular quality of light over still water,” Gallery FUMI notes in an official release.

The design exhibition brings together contemporary designers and artists whose works explore the relationship between material, craftsmanship and landscape. “The works gathered here share an attentiveness to raw material, surface and weight, punctuated by bright moments of colour. Each material—stone, gypsum, wood, ceramic, metal—is handled with the craft and restraint that the Mediterranean context calls for,” the gallery notes.

At its heart are new works by the New York and Athens-based design studio Voukenas Petrides, whose hand-worked stone and gypsum sculptures reflect the geological character of the islands. “Cut and worked by hand, the pairing of the two materials—one dense and enduring, the other soft and powdery—sets up a tension that is central to the work’s appeal,” the design gallery notes.

Furniture designer Max Lamb presents products from his Scrap Poly series, composed of stacked and hand-cut polystyrene blocks sealed beneath a glossy polyurethane finish. Rendered in muted, sun-bleached tones, the works complement the exhibition's Mediterranean-inspired colour palette.

Mirrors by British artist Sam Orlando Miller introduce a reflective dimension to the Casa al Mare. Their layered, gilded surfaces evoke the visual language of the Italian Renaissance paintings. “These guiding principles are interpreted by Miller in a singular, contemporary visual language defined by abstract geometries and colour,” the contemporary design gallery notes.

Furniture by Finland-based designer Tuomas Markunpoika expands the exhibition's materiality by presenting a coffee table, console and chair made from polished tadelakt plaster, finished in sand-like hues. “The forms are rounded and unhurried, their hard-soft appearance giving each an air of both gravity and lightness,” the gallery shares.

The other designers on view at the exhibition include Carlès & Demarquet, Casey McCafferty, Allan Collins, Bregje Sliepenbeek, Emma Witter, Jie Wu, Simon Klenell, Saelia Aparicio, JAMESPLUMB, Jeremy Anderson, Francesco Perini and Study O Portable.
