Gallery FUMI unveils a bold dialogue between craft and innovation at PAD London 2025

At this year's PAD London, Gallery FUMI presents a curation of works that foreground craftsmanship at its most imaginative. The showcase in London, on view from October 14 – 19, 2025, celebrates traditional techniques while boldly pushing the boundaries of contemporary design. "Our curation of these works seeks to show how blurred the boundaries are between art and design, function and beauty and nature and the maker," states Gallery FUMI in an official release.

A standout at the design fair is Jesse Schlesinger's Metamorphic 03, unveiled alongside his debut solo exhibition with the design gallery. Rooted in the raw monumentality of California's wilderness, the piece evokes ancestral connections to trees and the restless pulse of modern America. In Spud, Charlotte Kingsnorth breathes new life into an antique Koželka chair, transforming its historic frame into a playful, undulating form.

Other artists at the design event delve into the poetic intersections of ecology, ritual and craftsmanship. Tuomas Markunpoika, Emma Witter and Carlès & Demarquet craft evocative works exploring "how the natural world and human craft collide, conjuring a meeting place of myth, ritual and ecology in a time-washed, tactile harmony", notes gallery FUMI.

Jeremy Anderson offers a sensory experience through his Ephyra Cinque  9, 10, 11, 12, Mirror 8 and Coffee Table (Square). These works engage in a delicate dance with colour and light, creating a soft, nostalgic ambience tinged with nostalgia. Light and reflection continue to play a central role in Sam Orlando Miller's Rosa Della Foresta series and his luminous Cielo Nuovo Iris mirror. His work channels emotional perception into physical form, crafting lighting design that "emanates a joyous fluorescence," according to FUMI.

Narrative and memory emerge as thematic threads in Lukas Wegwerth and Corinna Dehn's Armadillo Hope Chest, which invites viewers to escape into a tactile storybook of form and function. Meanwhile, Shinta Nakajima's Alder no.4 is a nod to ornamentation reimagined through a contemporary lens.

Elsewhere, Saelia Aparicio's gilded Bad Bunny series dances around the space, with forms that pirouette through the air like whimsical acrobats. In contrast, Voukenas Petrides' Volumetric Tripod Chair and Volumetric Tripod Side Table "traverse the line between a weighty gravitas and a glimmering presence", the gallery mentions. Other exhibiting artists and designers in FUMI's showcase at PAD London 2025 include Francesco Perini, Max Lamb, Kustaa Saksi and Study O Portable.
