Il·Lacions Design Gallery presents CAPSULES, a large-scale programme bringing together seven exhibitions connected by a single idea: the ‘capsule’ as a minimal yet potent unit of creation. Running from November 27, 2025 – February 27, 2026, the contemporary design project explores how formal, technical and conceptual seeds grow into full collections. The opening also marked the launch of DIFUSIONS, a newly founded association promoted by Il·Lacions to foster multidisciplinary collaboration across collectible design, craft, visual arts and cultural practice. The Barcelona-based gallery granted DIFUSIONS two dedicated rooms for its first public presentations.
Among the exhibitions within CAPSULES, ClockClock 24 by Stockholm studio, Humans since 1982, stands out. The piece is composed of 24 clock faces whose hands oscillate between chaos and synchrony, aligning each minute to display the time as if on a digital screen. “This unique piece invites reflection on what it means to be present, on the passage of time and on the interdependence between order and chaos,” notes the design gallery in an official release.
Les Briquets de la Mer, by photographer Carles Roig, presents a contrasting perspective. Over more than twenty years, Roig collected 2,121 discarded lighters along Menorca’s northern coves, objects transformed by sun, salt, wind and erosion into sculptures. “I am drawn to the rough beauty of these small objects, to the extraordinary and unrepeatable patina of time,” Roig muses in the press release.
Based between Barcelona and London, designer Roger Arquer contributes two product design series to the ongoing design exhibition. Fishbowls gathers fifteen reinterpretations of the iconic glass fishbowl, using form and volume to investigate vulnerability, exposure and the emotional projections humans cast onto confined, transparent environments. His series Birdland expands this reflection into the realm of conceptual birdhouses, each piece reimagining the archetype through considerations of climate, hierarchy, geometry or environmental conditions.
Chile-born designer Sebastián Alarcón presents new pieces from his ASET studio. Works such as Standard Shelf and Weight Bookend foreground stainless-steel tubing as a defining structural element. His ongoing R2 Stool project, made from recycled aluminium blinds and plastic from soft-drink bottles, reinforces his commitment to circular design.
Argentina-based architect and designer Paula Rocío introduces Esto; Aquí, a small side table conceived with architectural precision. Designed around three ritual objects—matches, a candle and a publication—the piece follows the exact dimensions dictated by its function.
Completing the program is Ergo by Argentinian industrial designer Fran Juliá, a light piece shaped from recycled aluminium that has been collected, remelted and reformed through a careful, contemplative process. Part of a series of five lamps, Ergo reflects Juliá’s interest in giving new life and emotional resonance to materials marked by previous histories.
