Nilufar gallery has collaborated with French textile maison Métaphores (sister company of Hermès belonging to its textile division), for an immersive installation, In the Mood for Touch, on view from October 23, 2025, until mid-January 2026. The showcase is situated within Métaphores' showroom in Paris, France, and is curated and designed by Nina Yashar, founder of Nilufar. The project explores the connection between furniture design and textile craftsmanship. "Paris has always held a special place in my heart…I wanted to celebrate the refined elegance of French interiors, while also highlighting the exceptional delicacy and craftsmanship of Métaphores’ textiles," notes Yashar in an official release.
In the Mood for Touch transforms the showroom into a refined interior where materials, colour and form engage all the senses. At the heart of the design installation is a selection of works from Nilufar Edition—Yashar's contemporary collection launched in 2023—combined with Métaphores' expertise in weaving and finishing. "Lush velvets, sculptural jacquards, iridescent silks and textured wools—woven with exceptional finesse by Métaphores—envelop each object in a rich, tactile language. These materials do more than cover; they shape the identity of each piece, encouraging a deeper connection between viewer and space," mentions Nilufar in the press release.
The installation unfolds across three rooms, each expressing a distinct chromatic and material identity. The first evokes a serene living space in soft greens and golden tones. Furniture pieces from Nilufar's Orient series are upholstered in Cendrillon, a tone-on-tone satin, framed by layered draperies in deep brown. The Asta ceiling lamp and Lantern Stack light sculpture add a rhythm, while Vase Levitation, crafted in hand-blown Murano glass, lends an ethereal note.
The second room deepens the mood, wrapped in burgundy and copper hues. Two Balloon armchairs in St Germain velvet are paired with Omo low tables, while a rose-tinted paravent upholstered in Hobi Miroir—a fabric inspired by the intricate belts of Japanese kimonos—takes centre stage. The third and final room shifts to a luminous dining setting in aquatic greens. The sculptural Noctua table is surrounded by Dualita chairs covered in tactile faux fur, anchored by a green screen and illuminated by the lyrical Danseuse floor lamp.
Through the collectible design showcase, Nilufar and Métaphores highlight the role of materiality in shaping contemporary interiors. The installation demonstrates how craftsmanship, colour and texture help redefine atmosphere and invite a deeper appreciation of interior design. "With In the Mood for Touch, we wanted to create an immersive experience where materials speak directly to the senses: where each fabric, shade and finish invites emotion and dialogue. This collaboration with Nilufar allows us to merge our textile savoir-faire with their curatorial vision, giving life to a shared language of design and emotion," concludes Émilie Paralitici, creative and image director at Métaphores, in the official release.
