One of the most influential Dutch designers of his generation, Maarten Baas, is bringing his humoristic and rebellious universe to Malva. Baas is known for his designs that surprise, charm and astonish. They also challenge the traditional division of art and design: for Baas design is much more an artistic expression of his imagination than a quest for the best functional design. The Hide and Seek exhibition will feature Baas’ classic works and new video pieces. The exhibition includes the renowned Smoke series, for which Baas charred design classics, such as Frank Lloyd Wright’s Taliesin floor lamp. The artist is also inviting audiences to take part: by sharing their video clip of a waterfall to be featured in the new video work Second Nature.
