Nilufar returns to NOMAD St. Moritz with designs that span time and geographies

Nilufar returns to the design fair NOMAD St. Moritz 2026 with a presentation curated by Nina Yashar, founder of Nilufar gallery in Italy, offering an immersive dialogue between contemporary design and vintage works. Set within the distinctive context of Villa Beaulieu, the show, running from February 12 – 15, 2026, reaffirms Nilufar’s commitment to bridging craftsmanship, innovation and history. “I’m delighted to return to NOMAD St. Moritz,” says Yashar. “Over the years, I have admired NOMAD’s dedication to celebrating design in all its forms, and it is a pleasure to bring Nilufar to this exceptional setting.”

For this edition, Nilufar presents product designs that contribute to a layered narrative that spans time and geography. The showcase underscores design’s enduring capacity to connect past, present and future. “Among the contemporary highlights are a number of recent works that exemplify Nilufar’s vision of design as a living, evolving language,” the Milanese gallery notes in an official release.

At the heart of the presentation at Booth B3-D3 is the PostForma collection (2025) by Martino Gamper, unveiled at any fair for the first time. Originally conceived as a site-specific performance marking the tenth anniversary of Nilufar Depot, the project reimagines selected vintage works from Nilufar’s collection through acts of deconstruction and recomposition.

In the design exhibition, the spirit of transformation is echoed in the Famiglia collection (2025) by Maximilian Marchesani, where branches, feathers and electrical wiring form delicate suspended compositions. Exploring the intersection of natural elements and human intervention, the works evoke ecological transformation and fragile states of balance. A sculptural and symbolic dimension emerges in Etienne Marc’s Tête à tête sofa design, The Murmur. Inspired by mythological metamorphoses and organic forms, the ceramic piece merges Art Deco elegance with contemporary craftsmanship, redefining functional design as inhabitable sculpture.

Celestial inspiration informs Filippo Carandini’s Cabinet Sole from the Muse collection (2025). Drawing on the timeless allure of the Sun, Moon and stars, Carandini hand-models clay forms that become the basis for bronze castings. “Hand-modelled by Carandini, the clay forms give rise to the first bronze castings, which serve as models for future editions. This meticulous artisanal process ensures that each piece is unique, distinguished by dark patinas or natural, unpolished bronze surfaces that celebrate the material’s intrinsic beauty,” Nilufar elaborates. The selection is further enriched by new works from Lola Montes, including Artichoke wall lamps that evolve the ‘Castratura’ language introduced in her earlier candleholder series.

At NOMAD St. Moritz this year, these contemporary furniture designs are presented alongside a selection of vintage icons that reflect Nilufar’s ongoing exploration of material intelligence and enduring craftsmanship. “Highlights include José Zanine Caldas’ bar cabinet from the 1950s, where traditional craftsmanship meets industrial techniques in a refined balance of functionality and sculptural presence, alongside Gabriella Crespi’s iconic designs, celebrated for their inventive elegance and timeless allure,” Nilufar explains.

Beyond the main exhibition, Nilufar also participates in NOMAD’s special project, the Yellow Apartment—an exceptionally preserved example of total living design by Ico and Luisa Parisi from the early 1970s. Architecture, furnishings, light and colour converge in a cohesive environment that has remained intact for over five decades, retaining both its expressive force and contemporary relevance. Within this historic setting, Nilufar presents two works from Martino Gamper’s PostForma Ico series: the PostForma Ico Chair and PostForma Ico Side Table.
