One of the greatest upholders of Italian design around the world, Lema was founded in 1970 by the Meroni family—who runs the company to this day. Informed by traditions that date back to the early post-war years, Lema has been a trailblazer of Italian style with a complete catalogue that ranges from modular systems for the living area and bedroom to freestanding furnishings that include table designs, beds, chair designs, and accessories in addition to their recent collections of padded furniture. Inspired and guided by the idea of dialogue, Lema envisions a home as a revered space of relationships and sharing—the meeting of forms and materials, aesthetics and function. Time and again, the Italian brand reinforces its ability to combine different design signatures in harmonious compositions of furnishings, designed to seamlessly blend into lifestyles around the world. Unveiled during Salone del Mobile 2022, Lema’s new seatings—Niveaux, Glee, and Groovy—reiterate this design philosophy.
The new design signed by Federica Biasi is a modular floor sofa, a versatile seating proposal suitable for modern and dynamic environments. In the version with moveable backs as well as the one with fixed backs, the multiple variations of Niveaux create compositions that express the contemporaneity and fresh personality of the sofa, capable of complementing the living area with ease. From modern to classic, Niveaux creates infinite possibilities, thanks to the square, rectangular, and asymmetrical upholstered seating modules available with side tables, which are combined with a series of backrests and cushions. Additionally, there are multiple proposals of different materials and ton sur ton fabrics.
Glee, a modular free-standing sofa design with striking large and soft volumes, is able to blend into any lifestyle and dialogue with any furniture design, owing to its traditional spirit and its classic lines. Glee makes versatility its distinctive trait, adding a touch of freshness and modernity to the home. The sartorial attention to detail, typical of the made in Italy, high customisation, fil rouge of each Lema design, is enhanced in the ‘Armadio al Centimetro’ as well as in the Glee sofa. It is possible to choose the width of the Glee modular sofa to fully adapt it to the different functional, space and aesthetic needs. The careful selection of materials allow for different colour combinations, giving life to a new ‘sartorial’ proposal, an emblem of Officinadesign Lema's constant research.
An interplay between rigid and soft shapes, Groovy modular sofa embodies the essence of relaxation in a slender structure, expressing its sophisticated character with its tailored details. Like blossoming petals, its armrests open slightly outwards, highlighting the soft cushions. The balance between comfort and linearity, square shapes and softness, is the focal point of Officinadesign Lema’s designed Groovy sofa. The perfect interpreter of a philosophy based on relaxation, its main characteristics are comfort and modularity. Supported by non-visible feet, the body of the Groovy sofa in leather is joined with cushions, also available in fabric, making an infinite game of material and chromatic combinations possible.
Products with a sophisticated appeal, all distinguished by a wide range of customisations, respond to the various aesthetic and functional needs of the clientele. What distinguishes Lema in the panorama of international design, above all, is its great ability to develop custom-made solutions, together with the greatest architects, for the prestigious projects that the brand realises throughout the world.
