FRACTURE
This Week From The Editor

The world is breaking apart, one rushed decision, one prompt, one image at a time. A noisy network of wounds and carefully calibrated illusions. Cracked lines, gold seams. Fractures no longer allude to the moment when something breaks. They are a condition of living with the breaks—our collective hubris.

To not build the temple, but live inside the crack

This week's STIRfri asks what happens when the structures we rely on—cultural, social and technological—begin to splinter. Stefano Gualeni's book 'What We Owe the Dead' examines our obligations to those who came before us and how AI is rupturing the archives through which we understand the past.

The exhibition 'Sediments of Becoming' arrives at a tipping moment when questions of whose culture matters and who gets to tell their own story have never felt more urgent. The practice of PK_iNCEPTiON unravels the idea of 'through' spaces that respond to the deep crevices in the educational architecture of rural India.

A tender inquiry thus emerges. It asks: Does the light still find its way through the cracks? Or do we mistake the fracture for the architecture itself?
