Aimed at the creation of well-balanced workspaces, the Belgian design brand BuzziSpace uses human centric design approaches driven by acoustical solutions to make professionals feel at home, irrespective of where they are. One such solution by the Antwerp-based company is the BuzziPlanter – a collection of partition planters with acoustic and biophilic properties deisgned to encourage a more holistic and healthier workplace setup.
Sounds emitted from air conditioners, speech and ringtones, coffee machines and other sources can often be a cause of distraction and reduced workplace efficacy if not effectively minimised. Built to function as an acoustic insulator, the BuzziPlanter pot uses a high-density foam core, finished off with a breathable fabric to ensure decreased sound reverberations and optimum office productivity. A similar sound absorbing foam layer is used for the bottom of the plant basket to provide further acoustic absorption and relief from unnecessary sound vibrations of lower frequencies.
If that’s not enough, plants and flowers too exhibit properties that allow them to diffuse and refract sound waves. As such, these plants when placed in the BuzziPlanter, breakdown the overall vibrations of the longitudinal sound waves. The size of the pot is directly proportional to its sound absorbing capabilities.
With its acoustical properties, BuzziPlanters offer an ideal solution to creating distinct boundaries in open plan offices. Functioning as partition dividers, the planters with their optional wheels define the communal spaces, creating microenvironments which can be moved and reorganised according to an individual's needs.
Available in six different pot dimensions with inbuilt plastic containers, BuzziPlanter caters to a wide range of plant sizes, both real and artificial. The minimalistic pot can be upholstered in a variety of hues to compliment the décor of the interior spaces or liven up the existing workplace with its collection of coloured planters.
Other projects similar to the BuzziPlanter by award-winning acoustic leaders BuzziSpace include the BuzziRing, a small acoustic work cocoon and BuzziBalance, a sound absorbing seating pouf.
