GROUNDHOG DAY
This Week From The Editor

Every day is a little bit Groundhog Day. We wake, scroll, work, eat, sleep and do it all again, often without noticing how much of life runs on default settings. Familiarity is efficient, comforting, and precisely what keeps us from looking again. This week's stories interrupt and acknowledge that loop.

'Everyday is exactly the same'

The analogue, curated design of dumbphones disrupts relentless scrolling; a sleepless worker in 'Shadows of the Moonless Nights' exposes the unequal, Sisyphean conditions behind daily work and rest; Cooking Sections traces a meal into ecological and industrial cycles, linking our planetary footprints

to our direct circumstances. Each makes the familiar harder to take for granted.

'Table Manners' turns to the rituals closest to the body, asking why the design of forks, spoons and knives, and the etiquette around them, have remained so settled. Together, these look beneath the default: what we choose, inherit and have learned not to question. The point is not merely to escape Groundhog Day, but to notice what we have been repeating long enough to mistake for inevitability.
