‘Timeless Houses’ showcases 17 exclusive private residences designed by leading architects of four countries - India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Pakistan. Designed by creative architects with international acclaim, these dwellings represent diverse geographical locations, climatology, cultures, lifestyles of the four South Asian countries and hence different architectural form and styles. However, there are several unifying factors that bring these houses on one platform. Each project is an authentic and honest design that has the capability to remain functional for generations.
Whether it i s an urban house in Karachi or an eco-friendly mud house in Kerala, a concrete house in Chittagong or a climate-friendly house in Colombo, they all stand comfortably in their respective surroundings as if they were always meant to be there. All of them embrace their natural surroundings and offer an insight into architects’ strong design sense, judicious use of space and sensitivity for owner’s plans, needs, desires and budget. Old and new, tradition and modernity, comfort and simplicity, sustainability and innovation, functionality and diversity, all find unity in these beautiful houses. They belong to their space and environment; they have been created to last, to be timeless.
