Celebrating seven decades of craftsmanship and design excellence, Andreu World unveils its new space in Mumbai, India, centred around innovation, sustainability and the art of making. This new chapter for the Spanish furniture brand simultaneously embodies its legacy and vision for the future, offering a peek into the brand’s commitment to honouring heritage alongside its commitment to global expansion and collaborations. The company began in 1955 as a small woodworking workshop in Valencia, which has now grown into an internationally renowned name in the furniture design industry. The brand is mindful of materiality and, through its meticulous attention to detail, specialises in curating public, corporate, hospitality and residential environments. Its tables, lounge chairs, sofa designs and other versatile seating systems balance artisanal expertise with advanced technology, resulting in a timeless portfolio of aesthetic pieces.
The brand’s new outpost marks an important step in expanding its presence in Asia, having chosen one of the most culturally diverse cities in India. Mumbai—constantly growing as a hub for contemporary design and architecture—offers an inspiring context for Andreu World to open dialogue with India’s design culture. Conceived as a space for encouraging discourse and fostering connections for architects, interior designers and design enthusiasts alike, the space presents the brand’s signature pieces alongside the latest collections that prioritise circular design, natural materials and human-centric innovation.
Inspired by everyday living and commercial spaces, the new space evokes lived environments that visitors can feel familiar with while traversing. Partitions, display shelves and decorative items complement the furniture designs, visualising the potential of the brand’s products in curated settings.
The inaugural celebration of the store opening was also marked by a panel discussion exploring the future of the Circular Design Challenge—the dialogue introduced by Daniel Grinan of Andreu World and moderated by Mumbai-based curator and brand strategist Sneha Ullal Goel. The lineup of panelists comprised Sharmishtha Bade of Pernod Ricard India, Deben Moza (Knight Frank India), Sergio Chismol Pérez (Head of Design, Andreu World) and Kairav Shroff of Interics Design Consultants. Looking into circular design, responsible use of materials and certifications such as Cradle to Cradle® and their role in shaping the upcoming commercial design landscape, the panel unpacked norms and notions around sustainable design futures.
With the opening of the Mumbai showroom, Andreu World presents design as a cultural and social tool, one that connects people and drives them, shaping built environments and defining the future of mindful living. Its mission, as stated by the brand, is ‘to create furniture that improves spaces, inspires creativity and endures over time’, using materials and aesthetics thoughtfully and responsibly. The brand also launched the book Travel Well Seated earlier this year during the Clerkenwell Design Week. From FSC®-certified wood to innovative bioplastics, the company continues to lead the industry in sustainable design practices, challenging the boundaries of comfort and durability through active collaborations.
