If a kitchen in exquisite order and a freshly brewed mug of cortado is the first sight you desire as you wake up every morning, Siemens is the name you must add to your life. Giving effortless, intelligent and personalised experiences in the domestic sphere, its home innovation across products like coffee machines, cooking and cooling appliances, dishwashers and washing machines, makes everyday living joyful and simple. STIR recently visited the Siemens Experience Centre in Mumbai and spoke with Saif Khan, managing director and CEO of BSH Home Appliances, to get a first-hand experience of the brand’s latest offerings and a peek into its driving philosophy.

The immersive walkthrough was dotted with live demonstrations of Siemens’ built-in appliances, oven baking, dishwashers in action and coffee machines brewing, creating a holistic glimpse into the design-led intelligence crafted to transform everyday tasks into experiences people genuinely enjoy. More than a product showcase, the experience reflected how Siemens envisions technology as something that works quietly in the background, enhancing daily routines without demanding attention.

Discussing what makes the brand and its products stand out, Khan told STIR that Siemens is not just a premium home appliances brand, but a design and innovation company built on a legacy of intelligence, simplicity and precision, with several ‘world-first’ innovations shaped by close observation of how people cook, clean and live in their everyday lives. Backed by German engineering excellence and over a century of innovation, the world of Siemens is one where, as Khan relayed, “every individual gets what they want tailored in the way they want it”.

That legacy traces back to the early 20th century, when Siemens ventured into the electric home appliances market with the launch of its first vacuum cleaner in 1906. Over the following decades, the company introduced a series of innovations that simplified daily domestic chores, from washing machines in 1926 that could wash and spin-dry a load, to electric cookers in 1927 that brought ease and precision to everyday cooking. The Siemens dishwasher launched in 1964 as a modern alternative to handwashing. The brand’s oven journey began in 1926, marking the foundation of a century-long evolution in cooking innovation. Siemens entered India in 1997 with the introduction of its glass-ceramic Sensor cooktop, designed to deliver a safe, precise and intuitive cooking experience. Since then, the company has continued to shape kitchen and living spaces that understand, anticipate and evolve with their users.

Under Khan’s leadership since June 2023, BSH, through its iconic brands Bosch, Siemens and Gaggenau, is setting new benchmarks in immersive retail experiences and shaping the future of home living in India. Speaking with STIR, Khan noted how cooking has taken on renewed importance in modern lives, particularly in the post-COVID era, with the kitchen evolving into a social contact point for families. Responding to this shift, Siemens appliances serve as an intuitive interface between users and technology, transforming everyday routines into seamless experiences.

This approach is evident in Siemens’ built-in coffee machines, which allow users to personalise over 30 beverage options to suit individual preferences. Equipped with sensoFlow precision heating, autoMilkClean hygiene systems and the experiential World of Coffee playlist, programmable through the Home Connect app, these machines recreate café-style recipes with barista-level consistency. “We are not intending to just gather intelligence, but gathering intelligence as a result of giving people personalisation. You can personalise anything, whether it is a cold brew, a cortado or a cappuccino,” Khan said.

Laundry, too, has taken on a more emotionally attuned role in people’s lives, Khan observed, as everyday household activities increasingly reflect care and empathy rather than obligation. Siemens laundry systems respond to this shift with iDos intelligent dosing technology, which adapts detergent and water usage based on fabric type, load and soil level, delivering precise results while optimising consumption.

Beyond coffee and laundry, Siemens extends its philosophy of intuitive precision into every corner of the kitchen. Imagine an oven that knows exactly how you like your food—lightly crisped or deeply roasted. BSH’s iQ700 ovens, equipped with an AI-integrated internal camera, monitor your dish in real time and stop automatically when it reaches the perfect level.  The advanced Steam Function brings technology and well-being into direct harmony, gently cooking food in a way that preserves nutrients, flavour and texture, turning everyday meals into nourishing rituals. The dishwashers, meanwhile, combine superior hygiene with intelligent efficiency. Powered by Zeolith Technology, they deliver better drying performance, enhanced energy efficiency and save up to 150 litres of water per wash cycle compared to handwashing, while continuing to eliminate up to 99.99 per cent of bacteria and viruses, ensuring that everything from baby bottles to Indian kadai comes out clean, hygienic and cared for.

In the realm of preservation, Siemens refrigerators and wine storage units ensure peak freshness with hyperFresh technology, optimising humidity and temperature to keep ingredients vibrant up to three times longer. With noFrost, multiAirflow and SoftClose systems, they offer silent, seamless performance that suits design-led modern homes.

Surrounded by appliances that transform routine tasks into thoughtful experiences, the world of Siemens reflects a vision of intelligent living, where technology does not merely perform tasks, but thinks, adapts and supports everyday life.
